Bees, wasps, figs

The BBC and others have reported on the declining bee population; in America this is suspected to be linked to pollution. A similar situation in Turkey involves wasps who help pollinate fig trees. Hot weather has meant a low fig harvest and lethargic or dying wasps. This means fewer figs reaching the UK, and by extension fewer fig roles, a popular kind of biscuit. Survey on teens social software use (US)

A survey has found that 96% of US teens use social networking tools and that one of the most common topics discussed through them is Education. However schools are not harnessing this yet as a way to motivate and engage, and many prohibit use of the tools in schools time.
